    Why Attend?

    Full Overview

The power sector currently accounts for a quarter of global greenhouse gas emissions. According to the UN, we need to move away from coal and towards clean power about five times faster than at present in order to meet Paris Agreement goals. At the recent COP26 meeting, President of the Conference Alok Sharma announced the new Global Clean Power Transition Statement, a commitment to end coal investments, scale up clean power, make a just transition, and phase out coal by the 2030s in major economies, and in the 2040s elsewhere.

With phasing out of fossil fuels comes an increasing emphasis on transitioning across to renewable energy. Yet there are currently three major challenges faced by conventional grids when it comes to the adoption of renewable energy sources: frequency and voltage anomalies, overloading of existing transmission lines and fluctuation in supply, particularly when electricity is generated by the wind or the sun. In addition, many doubt whether current electricity grids are up to the challenge of managing peaks and troughs of renewable energy demands.

Join Prysmian Group and the Financial Times for this exclusive webinar discussion to determine the finance and innovation needed to overcome the logistical challenges of collecting, storing and distributing renewable electricity effectively. We will examine the innovation needed to prepare global power networks to cater for a renewable energy future, and the ESG standards, funding and policy planning required to facilitate change and make green power the norm.
